Q&A with SJ

Where do you currently live? New York City

What do you do for work? I work at a public school by day and manage my fashion blog by night. I started in the fashion industry but had a career change and went back to school to teach. After I started even though Ioved what I did I missed the fashion world. I created my blog so that I can keep my passion alive.

What are some of your hobbies? Something that most people don't know about me (unless you visit my apartment) is that I love to paint. I have an extremely creative side and love art. I have painted most of the artwork in my apartment which ranges from the Brooklyn Bridge to a painting of the Eiffel Tower.

What is your favorite trend for this season? I am loving anything velvet this season, I love the lush feel and look of it and can not get enough. I love that this trend has expanded to all types of clothing as well as accessories- anything from dresses to clutches and even booties!

What is your favorite part about the holiday season/What are you most looking forward to? For starters I love all of the sales but coming from a fashion blogger that shouldn't be a surprise. Other than that I love family time- the year always gets so busy so it's nice to set aside time to spend with them for the holidays.

How would you describe your own personal style? I am a true New Yorker- I am totally addicted to anything black or grey but I do love adding the unexpected whether it is a pop of color or a simple detail that makes the look stand out. I am also about style mixed with comfort- I love looking good but I also love feeling good, if a piece is too tight or does not fit well you won't find me in it.

Why did you select the Ballard duck boot? What do you like about it? I will admit that in New York City it's hard to look cute when it rains or snows. Rainy days are a mess and the beautiful white snow quickly turns to slush on the corners. Function comes first on these days and that is not always so cute. When I came across the Ballard duck boot I thought it was the perfect combination of function and style. I love the plaid on the top of the boot it adds to the design and I really do feel cute when wearing these which is a plus side in my book.
